Music Videos & Videos with Music

In a recent search for some motion graphic inspiration, I came across a wonderful site that did just that. Motionographer.com

After spending a shocking amount of my Friday poking around their webpage, I wanted to bring to your attention some great artists out there.

This first duo DANIELS, does some really great video work but this is the one that sticks out for me. The movements of her Teddy Bears always delight me, especially the one that does the Shimmy. The added little features like the camera shake, make this one you won’t forget. This has everything you’d expect from any Super Bowl commercial, but no, this is for children’s cereal. Why can’t we have commercials like this? I’m looking at you Local Medical Malpractice Attorney at Law.

Next up, EL NINO. If you love violence, were ever a young boy, and have since grown up… this is for you. When I first saw this, I couldn’t believe that it got more violent and graphic as it went on. Also, the increasing escalation of ways to shoot someone with a Nerf gun is a reason alone to watch this.

We Cut Corners “Pirates Life” is a stand out because EACH frame is hand drawn marker on paper. Watch it, and think about THAT. The way they play with the view through the water is pretty incredible. Maybe it’s because I cant draw very well, but this had me mesmerized.

This project by Vadoinmessico is wonderful to me because I have tried to work in a similar way to this project but never came nearly as close to awesome as this. I’m glad this video looks like it was shot on a smart phone from 2006, other wise all of these elements would seem out of place. This project is low-fi and doesn’t hide how its made; because it doesn’t need to.

Finally. Countdown. It’s a slower paced project but the imagery in this is stunning. The detail that is achieved while using a minimalist approach is enough for me, but then it keeps getting better. Notice the aspect ratio is in a classic square 1950′s TV format, but then swings out to a full 16×9 aspect ratio for the POV? How about the lens flare the sun makes when it comes up from behind the ship, the smoke after lift off? It looks true to the world you are looking into, and tha’ts where this project excels. It looks like the teaser before the coolest Pixar you’ve ever seen.

I hope that I helped you kill time on your break at work.

Because Vimeo is a wonderful place, all of these projects have artist credits on their Vimeo pages.
